Portrait of my beautiful step-daughter Betsy who is bipolar 2. I love this portrait of her because she’s gazing out with a quiet resilience. I used to watch the hummingbirds visit her garden when she lived in Los Angeles, the birds represent how beauty and joy can take flight even in the midst of darkness.
